Global Beverage Company Anheuser-Busch InBev United Disparate Systems

The world’s largest beer brewery Anheuser-Busch InBev adopts an enterprise-wide API strategy that helped to unite disparate IT systems.

The Challenge

EastBanc Technologies developed the strategy to unite the many disparate systems in use at Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) that resulted from the company growing through acquisitions. The company’s CTO was looking for a solution that would unify and centralize their IT while helping migrate to digital technologies.

Our Approach

Our approach started with stakeholder interviews to collect and formalize the requirements across all business units. Once we determined an API program strategy would be the best path forward, we performed a comprehensive competitive analysis of industry-leading API Management products. We ultimately recommended an Azure solution to best fit the needs of AB InBev’s business model. We presented our strategy to the company’s executive leadership and technical team. This unifying effort helped them understand the requirements and considerations of multiple stakeholders.

Our API Program advice provided detailed guidelines for implementing an enterprise-wide API Management Platform, as well as the process of management and governance of the API Program. We also recommended creating a Center of Excellence (CoE) to facilitate the company’s API culture and help establish best practices.

The Results

As a result of our work, AB InBev was able to complete the implementation. Other significant developments include:
