As part of its mission to deliver a superior rider experience, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) partnered with EastBanc Technologies to modernize its Smart Card services, in particular, its payment processing system. The integration of a new third-party payment processor allows for a stable, reliable, and more cost-effective option. In addition, we developed an extension of WMATA’s SmarTrip® system to support the authority’s need for speedier and more efficient refund processing. Now refunds can be issued in a seamless, integrated manner, delivering customer convenience and minimizing fraud.
